According to celebrity nutritionist and author Rujuta Diwekar, detox programmes come with their fair share of health problems.

Rujuta has been sharing important advice educating people about eating right and staying healthy during Diwali.

Here are some important tips for you make healthy choices this Diwali:

Sharing a video on her Instagram, Rujuta explained the myth of detox and offered advice on how to enjoy Diwali delicacies without sharing the guilt of gaining weight.

What's wrong with detox programs, drinks or spas?

Rujuta says:

  • It can damage the liver, our organ which naturally detoxes the body.
  • It changes the body composition, you lose muscle and bone density.
  • It affects your confidence negatively.

5 easy tips for ABC -- Acidity, Bloating and Constipation

  1. Start your day with gulkand water.
  2. A 15-minute nap mid-morning.
  3. Finish your lunch with 1/2 banana<./li>
  4. Lie in suptabadhakonasana for 2-5 minutes in evening.
  5. Have rice pej or kanji with ghee for dinner.

How to enjoy Diwali delicacies?

Do the following, says Rujuta:

  • Look (at all available options).
  • Pick (the most appealing delicacy).
  • Chew (slowly, aaraam se).
  • Relish (take a break before going for next helping).
