Former West Indies great Brian Lara has named Brendon McCullum as skipper of his Dream World Cup XI, which has three Indians in it.

The team has Virat Kohli, Shikhar Dhawan and Mohammad Shami, and big hitters AB de Villiers and Glenn Maxwell.

Lara, who is part of the commentary team at the World Cup, reckons McCullum’s aggressive captaincy is one of the bright aspects of the game.

"McCullum has been devastating with the bat and led from the front. Dhawan has provided solidity, while Sangakkara has been consistent and provides experience.

"Kohli has style, AB can do anything in the world and Steve Smith is one of the most consistent cricketers around. Maxwell will provide the X-factor," added Lara.

Impressed with the likes of Mitchell Starc and Trent Boult, he said he preferred to go with the top performers of the tournament.

"Starc has been the best Australian bowler, Shami has improved immensely and Boult has been devastating with the new ball. I have been most impressed with Imran Tahir's bowling in the tournament," said Lara.

Lara’s Dream XI does look formidable and the West Indian batting legend reckons it can take on any side in the world.
