Test captain Virat Kohli has suggested Daniel Vettori's name for the position of India coach as the Board of Cricket for Control in India seeks a new man for the high-profile job.

The position is vacant since the end of the World T20 after Ravi Shastri's contract as Team Director ended.

Vettori, who is currently coach of Indian Premier League side Royal Challengers Bangalore, is also coach of Big Bash League team Brisbane Heat.

Kohli replaced Vettori as skipper of the Bangalore franchise in 2013.

Sources confirmed to the Times of India that the former New Zealand cricketer's name was suggested by Kohli.

The legendary trio of Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly and VVS Laxman have been entrusted the job of helping the BCCI find a new coach before June.

Considering the amount of success India had under the guidance of Gary Kirsten, who was at the helm when the team won the 2011 World Cup, Kohli, who captains Royal Challengers Bangalore, feels Vettori can also make a similar impact if he is roped in for the role.
