Phil Salt and Jos Buttler walk out to open for England, with Salt taking strike. Karan KC has the new ball in hand.
Salt gets England underway immediately, nudging a single to get off the mark. Buttler begins watchfully with a solid defence before freeing his arms -- angling one sweetly past the infield for a boundary. Karan responds well, tightening his line, as Buttler can only flick one towards point for no run. Another dot ball follows to wrap up a tidy opening over. Five runs come off it.
Sher Malla is introduced into the attack and what a moment it turns out to be. WICKET! Full and drifting down the leg side, not the best delivery, but Salt helps it on and finds Lamichhane in the deep. First ball in international cricket and Sher Malla has a wicket! A dream start for the youngster. Salt departs for 1 off 2 balls, and Jacob Bethell walks in as the new batter.
Jacob Bethell settles in cautiously, flicking his first delivery towards midwicket for no run. He doesn’t wait long to counterattack though — slaps the next ball hard through deep point for four.
The youngster is up and running.
Moments later, Bethell goes big, launching one cleanly over the ropes for a towering six. Nepal try the short ball again, but it sits up nicely and Bethell punishes it, cracking another boundary. A dot ball ends the over, but the damage is done.
Fourteen runs and a wicket come off it. England move to 19/1 after two overs.
Karan KC continues.
Buttler and Bethell rotate strike with a single each before Buttler shifts gears, hammering a crisp boundary through the off side. He follows it up with a couple more runs to keep the pressure on.
Nine from the over. England are 28/1 after three overs.
