India 288-2 (73 ovs) vs SL | Scorecard
Welcome to the coverage of Day 2 of the first Test between India and Sri Lanka in Galle on Sunday.
The start of play on the second day is set to be delayed because of rain in Galle.
Play was scheduled to start 15 minutes early -- at 9.45am IST -- to make up for time lost due to rain on the first day.
The entire ground is under covers at the moment as play looks unlikely start anytime soon.
Devdutt Padikkal struck his maiden Test hundred to propel India to a commanding 288/2 on a rain-hit first day in Galle on Saturday.
Rishabh Pant made a breezy unbeaten 27 and will look to continue his fine start when play resumes on Sunday.
Padikkal smashed a fluent 131 not out, putting India on course for a formidable first-innings total on the opening day. K L Rahul made a composed 77 before retiring hurt, putting on a 150-run stand with his Karnataka team-mate.
Yashasvi Jaiswal was run out for 32, while captain Shubman Gill made 16, hitting two sweetly timed boundaries before throwing away his wicket. The right-hander charged at spinner Prabath Jayasuriya, only to sky a catch to mid-off.
