RCB opt to field vs DC

Royal Challengers Bengaluru skipper Rajat Patidar has won the toss and has decided to bowl first against Delhi Capitals in their IPL 2026 game at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.

Sahil Parakh and Kyle Jamieson will be making their debuts for DC.

As Phil Salt is recovering from an injury, Jacob Bethell is expected to open alongside Virat Kohli for RCB.

Patidar said, "We will bowl first. This venue is a high-scoring ground, it will not make much difference, we will try to put them under pressure in the second innings. The most important thing is different players coming up and delivering in different matches. We have played some good cricket and continue to carry that momentum. It is in the past, we are looking to play good cricket."

Delhi Capitals captain Axar Patel said, "I would have fielded if I won the toss. The ground dimensions are small, the pitch also gets better, so we would have chased as well. In the IPL, you score 264 and loss, but it is a long tournament. You need to keep continuing doing the work, even our best fielders drop catches, so luck is not on our side but we can sit around thinking about it. Chameera and Jamieson are playing."

Can RCB continue their dominance over DC?

Hello and welcome to the coverage of the Indian Premier League 2026 match No. 39 between Delhi Capitals (DC) and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.

Hurting from a staggering defeat despite posting 264, DC have little time to recover emotionally as they face another formidable side in defending champions RCB.

The death bowling, in particular, has looked vulnerable under pressure -- something that opposition teams have begun to target.

RCB's balanced approach

In contrast, RCB, placed a comfortable second in points table, have shown greater balance across departments.

Led by charismatic Virat Kohli their batting unit has revolved around strong top-order contributions, and the return to form of Devdutt Padikkal only adds further depth and stability, making them an even more formidable batting side.

The middle order, too, has played more defined roles in finishing games.

But RCB's threat is not limited to their batting firepower alone. Their bowlers have shown the ability to rein in opposition sides in crucial phases, particularly at the death: a quality that could prove decisive against a free-scoring Delhi line-up.
