That was a reflex catch as Suryakumar barely had any time to react but he reacted quickly to take the chance.

Two wickets in two balls for Bumrah to leave RR reeling on 47/5 in the fifth over.

RR 41-3 (4 ovs) vs MI 217-2 | Scorecard

Chahar continues as Rana defends the first ball on the leg side before a high bouncer is ruled a wide and wicketkeeper Rickelton does well to get a hand on it, to keep it down to another extra -- making it two wides in total.

Parag nudges the pacer off his pads for one before Rana misses the clip and is struck on the pads.

He slaps the next to deep extra cover for one but an overthrow gets him another run.

An angry Archer sends down a quick delivery clocked at 150.5 kph as Suryakumar has a big swing but misses.

He clips the next off his pads for two runs followed by a single.

A late change of mind from SKY as initially looking for the pick up shot he opens the face of the bat and chips the next over point. Nitish Rana running from deep point dives to his left as he gets his hands to it but fails to hold on to the tough chance.

However, he gets the shot right next ball, as he swats Archer easily fine leg for a six and keeps strike with one from the last ball.

Farooqi back into the attack. Suryakumar misses his favourite pick up shot as the ball goes off his pads for one leg bye.

Hardik makes most of the full toss easily despatching it wide of long-off for a four.

The next ball is right in the slot, full and on the stumps, as the MI captain smashes it straight down the ground for a six.

Hardik flicks the next in the gap at midwicket as the fielder puts in a desperate to stop the boundary and keep it down to two runs.

Theekshana bowls a wide on the off-stump before he flicks the next for a single.

Suryakumar takes a single followed by a wide before Hardik takes one through the off-side.

Surykumar finishes off the over in grand style, as he swipes the last ball, a full toss, over fine leg for a six.

Farooqi tries the slower bouncer as Suryakumar places the upper cut to perfection, fine on the off-side giving the fielder at thirdman no chance for a boundary.

The next ball is smashed past point for a four as he made most of the gap with the thirdman fielder moved fine after the last shot, to get 16 from the over.

Madhwal back into the attack. He bowls a superb over under the circumstances, keeping Hardik and Suryakumar down to ones and twos to concede just seven runs in the 15th over.

Hardik Pandya promotes himself to No 4. He plays the cut shot but can't beat the fielder at short thirdman and leaves the last ball.

A huge wicket for RR at a crucial juncture as Rohit is someone who is hard to stop once he gets past his fifty.

Parag did well to drift the ball wide and make Rohit reach for it and he was unable to get it off the middle.

Rickelton out for 61; MI lose 1st wkt

MI 120-1 (12 ovs) vs RR | Scorecard

Rickelton has smashed 55 from 33 balls, while Rohit has made 42 from 27 balls.

The two openers have laid a superb foundation for MI and they will now look to build on in the middle overs by playing aggressively and finish around 220 or more.

If RR don't strike within the next over or two they could be set for a long evening of ball chasing.
20:21

Rickelton hits fifty; MI in control

MI 90-0 (9 ovs) vs RR | Scorecard

Pacer Akash Madhwal comes into the attack to bowl against his former team.

Infact, the two bowlers in operation -- Kartikeya and Madhwal -- both played for MI.

Singles off the first two balls before left-hander Rickelton top edges the pull shot, clearly beaten for pace, but the ball flies over the wicketkeeper for a four.

The next ball is again short but this time Rickelton manages to pull it over short fine leg for another boundary and keeps out the last two balls.

Kartikeya continues as Rohit sweeps the first ball square on the leg side for a boundary.

He shows great cricketing sense, outsmarting the young spinner as he paddles the next ball fine for another four.

A single to Rohit helps him complete 6000 runs for Mumbai Indians.

Rickelton also brings up a milestone as he pulls the short ball from the spinner high over midwicket for a huge six to complete his fifty from 29 balls -- his second half-century of the season.

Archer, who conceded just two runs in the first over, is back into the attack. Rickelton flicks the first ball off his pads for a single before Rohit backs away to punch the second ball past point for two runs.

He takes one on the leg side before Rickelton mistimes the pull shot but it falls safely for two runs.

The next ball is full as the left-hander lofts it over mid-off for a four and pulls the last ball for a six, to get 18 runs from the over.

Rohit continues the momentum. He backs way to loft spinner Theekshana over mid-off for a four before he hits the next over the covers for the same result to take MI past 50, in the sixth over.

He hits the next full toss along the ground for a single in the covers before Rickelton slaps the spinner through the covers for the third four of the over.

A huge appeal for leg before wicket against Rickelton who misses the clip off his pads. Theekshana is very confident and pleads with his captain to take the review.

Wicketkeeper Dhruv Jurel walks up to Riyan Parag and the two have a discussion before deciding against the review and rightly so as the ball had pitched outside the line of leg stump.

MI have made a good start to race to 58 for no loss in six overs, with Rohit on 26 and Rickelton on 31, with both having faced 18 balls each.

Farooqi gets revenge off the last ball. The change of pace does the trick as Rohit plays all over the full delivery and is given out leg before wicket.

Rohit is not convinced but somehow his partner makes his take the review at the very last second.

Lucky escape for Rohit as the ball has pitched outside the line of leg stump and the decision is overturned. He almost didn't review that.

Rohit watchfully keeps out the last ball on the off-side.

Royals elect to bowl; MI unchanged

MI 2-0 (1 ov) vs RR | Scorecard

This is the 50th match of IPL 2025. Rohit Sharma and Ryan Rickelton walk out to open the batting for MI, while Jofra Archer will start off with the ball for Royals.

Bumrah vs Suryavanshi as MI face RR

Vaibhav Suryavanshi
Vaibhav Suryavanshi

Welcome to the coverage of the IPL 2025 match between Rajasthan Royals and Mumbai Indians at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur on Thursday.

Rajasthan Royals will turn up against Mumbai Indians with renewed vigour as they aim to halt the five-time champions' surging momentum in IPL 2025.

With 14-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi potentially playing the knock of the tournament on Monday, the Royals have found a ray of hope in what has been an IPL campaign of missed opportunities.

Having put bowlers of international repute to the sword, it would be interesting to see how southpaw Suryavanshi fares against World's best bowler Jasprit Bumrah.

A side strain to skipper Sanju Samson paved the way of Suryavanshi's debut and it only took him three innings to become the talking point of the cricketing world with a sensational 35-ball century against Gujarat Titans.

For Hardik Pandya-led Mumbai Indians, the return of Bumrah has coincided with their ascent to the top of the table. The perennial slow starters have now collected five wins on the bounce and look unstoppable.

One of the positives for MI in the previous game was the performance of debutant Corbin Bosch who scored at a strike rate of 200 besides taking a wicket.

With likes of Suryakumar Yadav and Rohit Sharma back at their best, MI seem to be peaking at the right time, an ominous sign for the opposition teams.
