Just nine runs needed for victory as Nitish Reddy comes into the attack after just one over from Bumrah.

McSweeney blocks the first ball before he plays a nicely-timed drive through the covers for a boundary.

The third ball swings away as McSweeney looking for another cover drive is beaten followed by a leave.

He pushes the fifth ball to the fielder at gully before McSweeney smashes the last ball past point for another four to level scores.

In the next over, Khawaja pulls Siraj for one to take Australia to a commanding 10-wicket victory.

Khawaja and McSweeney didn't waste much time as they chased down 19 in just 3.2 overs to level the five-match series at 1-1.

Cummins took 5/57 to bundle out India for 175 in their second innings before the hosts quickly chased down the target to complete an emphatic victory.

Australia continue their amazing record at the Adelaide Oval, winning their eighth day night Test in a row at this venue.

India batted poorly in both innings as they lasted a total of around 81 overs in the match, with Nitish Reddy, who made 42 in each innings, the only person to get past the 40-run mark.

Another overpitched delivery on the stumps as Khawaja flicks it through square leg for a boundary.

He pushes the last ball straight down the ground for a single to retain strike.

Nathan McSweeney and Usman Khawaja are the two openers for Australia, while Jasprit Bumrah will open the bowling for India.

The first ball is full and just wide of the stump as it swing away with McSweeney offering no shot and he defends the next ball.

Another play and miss from the right-hander before he plays a nice drive through the covers for a couple of runs to get off the mark and keeps out the last ball.

Another disappointing showing by the Indian batters. They have failed to get past the 200-run mark in both innings of this Test match.

The short ball tactics worked wonders for the Australians as the Indians batter struggled to cope.

Nitish Reddy was the top-scorer with 42 as he helped the visitors avoid the humiliation of an innings defeat. He was also India's top scorer in the first innings with the same score.

Captain Cummins was aggressive with the ball, especially with the bouncers, as he claimed 5/57 in 14 overs, while Boland claimed 3/51 and Starc took 2/60.

Australia will hope to quickly score the 19 runs needed for victory and level the five-match series.

Boland continues as Siraj has a big swing at the full wide delivery but misses it. He tries the bouncer which is left alone and is ruled a wide.

Boland gets revenge as Siraj has a big swing but ends up miscuing the ball high and it is Head who takes a well-judged catch.

Siraj is dismissed for seven as India are bowled out for 175 in 36.5 overs in their second innings.

Australia need just 19 runs to level the five-match series.

Cummins picks 5; Aus set for big win

Reddy decides to go on the attack. He has a big swing against Scott Boland's first ball but is beaten but makes good connection two balls later, to loft it over mid-on for a four.

The next ball is full and moves away slightly to go past the outside edge before Reddy steers the pacer to deep point for one and Bumrah edges the last ball but short of the fielder at gully.

Cummins starts his new over with a bouncer which Reddy pulls for a huge six over square leg.

However, Cummins has the last laugh. Reddy tries to ramp the next ball but hits it straight into the hands of McSweeney at thirdman stationed very fine for that particular shot.

Reddy walks back after an entertaining 42 from 47 balls as India lose their ninth wicket.

Cummins picks up his fifth wicket of the innings to put Australia on couse for victory.

Mohammed Siraj is greeted by boos from the home crowd as he makes his way out to the middle.

He gets a lifeline off the first ball as he gets an edge off Cummins but wicketkeeper Carey puts down the catch diving to his right.

Cummins from round the wicket bowls another bouncer which Siraj ducks under and is beaten on the outside edge next ball.

Travis Head at short leg under the helmet seems to be having a few words with Siraj.

A lethal bouncer from Cummins as Bumrah looks to fend it away but the ball goes off shoulder of the bat and is taken on the off-side.

The umpire rules it out before Bumrah takes the review. The ball has gone off the helmet as the decision is overturned.

The only consolation for India has been that they have managed the avoid the innings defeat.

Starc bowls a full wide delivery as Reddy drives it uppishly to sweeper cover but doesn't take the single.

Starc bowls a bouncer down the leg side which Reddy ducks under before he takes a single off the next and Rana defends the fifth ball, which is again short.

Rana getting some short ball treatment. The last ball is a quick bouncer as Rana takes his eyes off as he tries to fend it away but it struck on the helmet.

Cummins ends Rana's misery. He was struggling against the short ball tactics and finally ends up miscuing one to be caught by Khawaja on the off-side for a duck.

Jasprit Bumrah comes out showing intent as he pulls the short ball from Cummins over midwicket for two runs to get off the mark.

The next ball is again short and this time he is beaten trying the pull again.

Starc mixing his length quite well. He bowls a couple of back of length deliveries to Reddy before he tries the yorker which is a low full toss and is defended.

Reddy takes a single off the fifth ball to mid-off and Harshit Rana does well to get his bat down in time and keep out the yorker.

Cummins from the other end as Reddy clips the pacer's first ball for a single on the leg side. He continues with his short ball tactics as Rana misses the pull shot before he drives the next ball straight but the fielder at mid-off comes up with a diving stop.

Another short ball at the body which Rana fends on the off-side. The last ball is again a bouncer at the body and this time Rana fends it uppishly on the leg side just evading Head running back from short leg.

Ashwin will put a price to his wicket, he enjoys his batting and if he gets set he is capable of playing a meaningful knock.

Starc's short ball not high enough to trouble who pulls it for a single. Reddy gets an edge off the last ball which stays low as Steve Smith dives to his left but can't get to the ball, which goes through for a four.

Ashwin misses the pull shot off a short ball down the leg side from Cummins. However, he falls two balls later as Ashwin again misses the pull and is caught behind as the ball goes off the gloves.

Ashwin makes his way back for seven as India slip to 148/7.

Cummins has bowled with a lot of fire in this Test, using the bouncers to good effect, for excellent figures of 3/45 in 11 overs.

Starc from the other end. Ashwin drives the second ball with a straight bat past the fielder at mid-off for three runs and Reddy clips the fourth ball for one.

Ashwin misses the glance off the last ball as Starc strays down the leg side.

Reddy, playing in just his second Test, has shown a lot of promise with the bat. He clips Cummins through square leg for a couple of runs and watchfully defends the rest of the over.

Blow for India! Pant falls for 28

Rishabh Pant and Nitish Reddy have a big task on their hands. Pant went on the attack on Day 2 to stun the Australians and it will be interesting to see his approach in the morning session.

Mitchell Starc starts off with the ball. The first ball is away from the off-stump as Pant offers no stroke.

He comes down the track to the second ball and has a big swing but is beaten on the inside edge by the length ball.

Australia appeal for the catch off the inside edge before they take the DRS.

Pant was a long way down the track and the ball missed the bat as it went off the trousers, with Australia losing their second review.

The third ball is full and swings in as Pant misses and is hit on the pads before he misses the flick next ball.

Starc gets his man off the last ball. The full delivery swings away as Pant looking to defend gets the outside edge and is caught by Steve Smith at second slip, who stretches to his right and takes the catch in front of first slip.

A huge blow for India's hopes as Pant makes his way back for 28 in the first over of the day.

The ball was pitched perfectly in the middle and off line and held it's line as Pant was forced to defend.

Welcome to the coverage of Day 3 of the second Test between Australia and India at the Adelaide Oval on Sunday.

On Day 2, Australia's pacers chipped away at the wicket to leaving India reeling on 128/5 in their second innings and stay on course for a series-levelling victory in the day-night second Test on Saturday.

Australia's pace battery further consolidated their position by blowing away the top half of India's batting order with the pink ball.

Rishabh Pant led India's fightback with an entertaining 28 not out with Nitish Kumar Reddy on 15 at the other side and 29 in the arrears.

Pat Cummins dismissed K L Rahul (7) caught behind with a steepling delivery, which the opener could only glove to Alex Carey.

Scott Boland struck with his first ball, dismissing Yashasvi Jaiswal, also caught behind, for 24 just when the batter was looking dangerous.

A subdued Virat Kohli, who made 11, also fell to Boland in similar fashion.

Shubman Gill made a fluent 28 before he had his stumps rearranged by Mitchell Starc, while Cummins bowled counterpart Rohit Sharma (6) to leave India reeling.

Pant played a couple of outrageous shots - sending the ball to the rope while tumbling himself - much to the amusement of the 51,642 fans.

Earlier, Travis Head smashed a swashbuckling hundred to fetch Australia a first innings lead of 157 at his home ground.

Marnus Labuschagne (64) kept his head down and collected runs without courting risks en route to only his second half-century in his last 11 Test innings.

Head took a single off Ashwin to bring up his hundred before gesturing to his wife, daughter and newborn son in the stands.
