Murali to miss Twenty20 World Cup

Sri Lanka's [Images] Muttiah Muralitharan will miss next month's Twenty20 World Cup in South Africa after straining his bicep.

The 35-year-old off-spinner picked up the injury playing for English county side Lancashire.

"We've been told that Murali will definitely miss the Twenty20 championship and is set to be out of action for between three to six weeks," Sri Lanka Cricket Board secretary Kangadaran Mathivanan said.

A replacement is due to be named later on Thursday with Dilruwan Perera, an off-spinning all rounder who has impressed with the A team, the favourite to be called up.
