The batsman walked away shaking his head, indicating to his forearm and muttering to himself.

Pietersen pleaded guilty at a hearing with match referee Ranjan Madugalle after the match ended on Monday. India won the second Test by nine wickets.

The batsman was charged with a breach of level 1.3 of the International Cricket Council's code of conduct, an ICC [Images] release said.

The penalty for level one offences range from an official reprimand to a maximum fine of 50 percent of the player's match fee.
