Piyush Chawla [Images] on Thursday became the second youngest cricketer to play for India when he stepped on to the field in the second Test against England [Images] in Mohali.

The Uttar Pradesh leg spinner, 17 years and 75 days old, ranks behind Sachin Tendulkar [Images] who made his debut at the age of 16 years and 205 days against Pakistan in 1989-90.

Chawla, however, heads the list of slow bowlers to have played for India including Laxman Sivaramakrishnan and Maninder Singh.

The Indian is 16th on the all-time list topped by Pakistani Hasan Raza who played his first Test when he was 14 years and 227 days against Zimbabwe in 1996-97.
