India's cities are growing at a fast pace like never before. But these cities have been struggling to offer basic amenities to its residents as population swelled astronomically over the last decade. The unplanned growth has lead to a decline in the quality of life in Indian cities.
Basis infrastructure problems like bad roads and poor transport facilities, unchecked pollution and lack of clean water and power supply are the main problems that are plaguing Indian cities today.
The Janaagraha Annual Survey of India's City Systems (ASICS) finds out the problems of urbanisation and ranks Indian cities on a scale of 1 to 10.
Citizens were asked to rate the cities on mobility system, clean water, cleanliness, public amenities, pollution/greenery, crime and safety, bureaucracy, the parameters for quality of life.
In terms of quality of city systems, cities were ranked on 4 broad parameters, urban planning and design, urban capacities and resources, political representation, and citizen participation.
