"The centralised command centre would be opened in the next few weeks and is a part of the investments Wipro is making to address remote infrastructure management market," G K Parsanna, vice president, Wipro Technology Infrastructure Services Business said.
Apart from building infrastructure, Wipro is also investing heavily in hiring people and developing new service lines to stay ahead of competition.
The competition, however, does not have anything like a global command centre, he said. The company has 8,000 people in this business of which 2,500 are working for international clients.
"The remote infrastructure service market is huge and we have just managed a small part of it. Last year, our export revenues from this stream was $95 million though our compound annual growth rate during the last five years was 85 per cent," he said.
According to analyst firm Forrester's country director for India Sudin Apte, the US market alone for remote infrastructure management was $111 billion and global market was $200 billion.
The outsourcing market for infrastructure management has been dominated by large players like EDS, IBM and Accenture.
