Sensex gains 11 points at close

The Sensex ended with a marginal gain of 11 points at 10,124.

Dr.Reddy's soared to a high of Rs 1,295 following the news that the company has acquired betapharm, a German pharma firm. The stock finally closed with a huge gain of 9.4% at Rs 1,282. On the other hand, Ranbaxy, which was the loser in the race for betapharm, slipped 3.3% to close at Rs 432.

Auto and cement stocks, too, witnessed hectic buying today.

Tata Motors rallied 4% to Rs 800. Hero Honda surged 3.3% to Rs 922, and Maruti gained 1.6% at Rs 764. Bajaj Auto, however, slipped 1.6% to Rs 2,373.

Grasim soared over 3% to Rs 1,698. ACC added 1.5% to Rs 597, and Gujarat Ambuja was up marginally at Rs 85.55.

Tata Power moved up 2.4% to Rs 501. Reliance Energy gained 1.3% at Rs 611.

While HLL rallied over 1% to Rs 238, ITC shed 2.3% to Rs 167.

Tata Steel added 1% to Rs 392. Hindalco, however, declined nearly 2% to Rs 160.
