Sensex gains 34 points at close

The Sensex opened weak and after a volatile trading session bounced back to the positive region to close at 7669, up 34 points. Nifty closed up 6 points at 2318.

Auto stocks ended in the green on the back of good sales growth in June. Maruti and Hero Honda leapt 2% each, Tata Motors gained 4%. Bajaj Auto also ended in the positive region.
Reliance, ONGC, NTPC recovered from early lows.

Ranbaxy leaped up 9% to Rs 515, however, Cipla and Dr Reddy's ended down.

IT pivotals suffered a setback today. Infosys, Satyam, Wipro, TCS all ended down.

The cement sector also closed mixed with ACC and Gujarat Ambuja in the winner's list and Grasim and L&T ending down.

Among the other winners are HLL, Bharti, Tata Power, Reliance Energy and HDFC.

Other losers include Tata Steel, HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, SBI and ITC.
