Railways earned Rs 1655.36 crore (Rs 16.55 billion) between July 1 and 10, as compared to Rs 1496.53 crore (Rs 14.96 billion) during the same period last year, registering an increase of 10.61 per cent.
According to an official release the total goods earnings have gone up from Rs 1017.30 crore (Rs 10.17 billion) during July 1-10, 2006 to Rs 1107.62 crore (Rs 11.07 billion) during the same period in 2007, showing an increase of 8.88 per cent.
The total passenger revenue earnings during the said period in 2007 were Rs 480.59 crore (Rs 4.8 billion) as compared to Rs 429.91 crore (Rs 4.29 billion) during the same period last year, reflecting an increase of 11.79 per cent.
The revenue earnings from other coaching amounted to Rs 44.31 crore (Rs 443.1 million) during this period compared to Rs 38.93 crore (Rs 389.3 million) during the same period last year, registering an increase of 13.82
The total sundry earnings have gone up from Rs 10.39 crore (Rs 103.9 million) during first and 10th June 2006 to Rs 22.84 crore (Rs 228.4 million) during the same period in 2007, showing an increase of 119.83 per cent.
The total approximate number of passengers booked during July 1-10 were 185.76 million compared to 168.57 million during the same period last year, showing an increase of 10.20 per cent.
In the suburban and non-suburban sectors, the number of passengers booked during July 1-10 were 104.82 million and 80.94 million respectively, compared to 92.81 million and 75.76 million during the same period last year, registering an increase of 12.94 per cent and 6.84 per cent respectively, the official release said.
