India's cellular subscriber base rose to 1.33 crore (13.3 million) in April against 1.26 crore (12.6 million) in the previous month, even as the monthly addition was down at 647,000 users.
The monthly addition of 6.47 lakh (647,000) users this month is lower than the addition of over 9 lakh (900,000) users logged in March.
According to the latest subscriber figures released by Cellular Operators Association of India on Tuesday, the all-India cellphone base was 133,35,153 as on April 2003, with monthly additions pegged at 6,47,516.
All metros combined commanded a base of 45.84 lakh (4.584 million) in April, up from 44.39 lakh (4.439 million) in March.
In Delhi, Bharti Cellular increased its subscriber base to 9.38 lakh (938,000) during the period in reference as compared to 9.02 lakh (902,000) in March, while the customer base of Hutchison rose to 6.19 lakh (619,000) in April against 6.05 lakh (605,000) in March.
The subscriber base of state-owned MTNL, which on Tuesday announced a partial roll-back in landline to cellphone tariffs, was at 1.36 lakh (136,000) in April.
The subscriber base of Idea cellular seemed to have dipped to 1.63 lakh (163,000) in April against 1.65 lakh (165,000) in March, according to the COAI figures.
In Mumbai, BPL Mobile enhanced its user base to 6.31 lakh (631,000) in April, while that of Hutchison Max was at 6.86 lakh (686,000).
The subscriber base of the other two operators MTNL and Bharti Cellular was 1.64 lakh (164,000) and 2.48 lakh (248,000), respectively.
In Chennai, the subscriber base of RPG Cellular was 1.78 lakh (178,000) in April, while those of Bharti Mobinet, Hutchison Essar and BSNL were at 2.15 lakh (215,000), 58,028 and 32,499, respectively.
The three operators in Kolkata -- Bharti Mobitel, Hutchison Telecom and BSNL together notched up a subscriber base of 5.11 lakh (511,000) in April.
