The Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd said on Tuesday that its customers would continue to avail of the 47 per cent domestic long distance rate cut on fixed-to-fixed line call beyond 500 km till May.
"BSNL had earlier announced a bonanza for its customers by a massive cut of 47 per cent in domestic long distance rates on fixed line beyond 500 km last month," a BSNL statement said in New Delhi.
"The new rates for long distance fixed-to-fixed call at the rate of Rs 4.80 round the clock, which was valid till March 31, 2003, would now be applicable till any further announcement by BSNL," it pointed out.
In early March, BSNL had announced a massive drop in STD rates for distance beyond 500 kms to Rs 4.80 per minute from Rs 9 applicable earlier.
As per the new tariff the consumers, however, had to pay marginally more at Rs 4.80 per minute (round the clock) against the then applicable Rs 4.50 for domestic long distance calls beyond 500 km during the off-peak hours between 2000-0900 IST.
