The service which is for both pre-paid and post-paid customers of Airtel will be available on Nokia 3100, 3200 and 200 other models of Samsung, Sony Ericcson, Siemens, Alcatel, Motorola and Sagem, a company release said. The GPRS service costs Rs 499 per month.
Many mobile handsets supported general packet radio service, which enabled data and to some extent video download but did not support video streaming, it said.
To access the service, an Airtel GPRS, customer using a non-video phone needs to go to the Airtel live portal and click on the relevant section where the customer can get the video of choice and can download it at a charge of Rs 30 per download with the duration of 10-30 seconds depending on the phone memory capacity.
