Dalmiya Quits ICC Contracts Committee

December 30, 2002 16:42 IST

Board of Control for Cricket in India president Jagmohan Dalmiya resigned from the World Cup Contract Committee on Monday and the BCCI put the ICC Development (International) ltd (IDI) on notice that it was seeking redress through non-binding mediation immediately to resolve the ongoing contract dispute.

"Since the legality of the restrictive clauses in the contract is being tested by BCCI, I feel that as its President, it would not be fair on my part to remain in the committee.

"I, therefore, resigned this morning," said Dalmiya prior to the announcement of the final 15-member Indian squad for the forthcoming World Cup in South Africa.
