The views came in the wake of Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar wondering on Friday that how could the CJI, even by "statutory prescription", get involved in executive appointments such as that of Central Bureau of Investigation director, and said it was time to "revisit" such norms.
The Supreme Court on Monday expressed its displeasure at the Delhi High Court Bar Association for questioning the representation of women judges in the top court while arguing for reservation for women lawyers in the high court bar. The court refused to hear further arguments from the bar body and set November 29 for final arguments on the issue of reservation. The court had previously directed the DHCBA to reserve the post of treasurer for a woman and consider reserving one more post for a woman in the five-member office-bearer body. It had also directed that at least three out of the 10 executive members be women, with at least one being a senior designated advocate.
Justice Dinesh Kumar Sharma allowed Sisodia to withdraw the interim bail applications.
"The investigation has revealed that Singh had assured to get changes through Manish Sisodia in the then proposed Excise Policy of 2020-21 to increase the brand registration criterion for IMFL brands at the behest of Amit Arora and Dinesh Arora.
The high court made it clear that Sisodia shall not interact with media or any other person except his family members, and also not access phone or internet.
Special Judge M K Nagpal, who deferred the hearing on Sisodia's bail plea till March 24 for clarification and submissions, meanwhile issued a notice to the Enforcement Directorate and sought its response by March 25.
The CBI had arrested Sisodia last week in connection with alleged corruption in the formulation and implementation of the now-scrapped liquor policy for 2021-22.
The submissions were made by the CBI in a short written reply while opposing the senior Aam Aadmi Party leader's bail plea, which it said was devoid of any merit and was an attempt to misuse the intricacies of law to thwart the progress of investigation in the case.

The Delhi high court on Thursday sought the Enforcement Directorate's response on the bail plea by Delhi-based freelance journalist Rajeev Sharma, who was arrested in connection with a money-laundering probe linked to alleged leakage and supply of sensitive information to Chinese intelligence officers.
