A Malaysian coach was quarantined with swine flu symptoms at the world badminton championships in Hyderabad on Tuesday, while a doubles pair from Thailand pulled out of a match after one of them complained of fever. K Subhakar, a government official, told reporters that a member of the Malaysian coaching staff has been admitted to the regional chest hospital after displaying H1N1 virus symptoms.
Two passengers, who returned from Dubai on Wednesday, were found to be suffering from the swine flu and they were admitted to the Government Chest Hospital. On Tuesday, three new cases had tested positive.
Three persons, including an NRI from Canada, were being checked on Monday for suspected H1N1 flu after they complained of fever and other symptoms even as people were screened at airports across the country for the deadly virus that has hit the US, Europe and Latin America.
Two more people tested positive of swine flu on Thursday, taking the figure up to 88 in both Andhra Pradesh and Telangana in 2014.
One more person has succumbed to swine flu in Hyderabad, taking the total number of deaths due to the disease this year in Telangana to 8.
