An accused in a triple murder case was killed in a shootout with police in Bulandshahr, Uttar Pradesh. The accused, who had a bounty of Rs 50,000 on his head, was wanted for the murder of three youths during a birthday party. Two police personnel were injured in the encounter.
'We will give him a grand welcome on his return'
Communist Party of India General Secretary A B Bardhan warned that if government officials held talks with visiting International Atomic Energy Agency chief Mohamed El-Baradei about the nuclear agreement, the Left Front would withdraw its support to the government. "Let the IAEA chief meet Dr Manmohan Singh and other political dignitaries. But if the govt officials hold talks with El-Baradei about the safeguards of the 123 agreement, we will pull the rug," he threatened.
The remaining two accused in the endangered black buck hunting case, allegedly involving former cricket captain Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi, also surrendered at a local court in Jhajhar on Thursday.
The accused, charged under the Wildlife Protection Act, sought more time saying the police notices were served at\ntheir residences in their absence.
Hearing the application on Tuesday, the court had asked the Haryana government to produce details of the case, and adjourned the case to Friday.
After having spent two days in police remand following his surrender before a Jhajjar court on Saturday, the former Indian cricket captain will be presented in court later on Monday.
Former Indian cricket captain Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi, who is in one-day police remand, was on Sunday taken to Kilodh village near Jhajhar where he and his associates allegedly killed an endangered black buck and two rabbits.
