Heavy rain continued to lash Chennai and other parts of Tamil Nadu on Wednesday, bringing residential neighborhoods and roads under knee-deep water and leading to traffic congestion besides affecting public transport services.
He allegedly attempted suicide when police went to arrest him. He is undergoing treatment at a government hospital, police said.
The arrest followed a complaint lodged by the victim, a class 12 student, they said.\n
S Swathi, employed with software giant Infosys, was found dead with cut injuries on her face and neck around 6.30 am on a platform in Nungambakkam railway station, police said.
Meanwhile, the Bharatiya Janata Party's state unit staged a protest here demanding justice in the case.
