The Delhi high court on Tuesday dismissed pleas of Congress leader Sajjan Kumar and two others -- challenging the framing of murder and rioting charges against them -- in a case related to the 1984 anti-Sikh riots in the city. Justice Suresh Kait refused to quash the charges framed against Kumar and the other accused by a trial court in the case related to the killings of six people in Delhi's Sultanpuri area.
The Delhi high court on Friday granted anticipatory bail to former Congress Member of Parliament Sajjan Kumar and six others in the 1984 anti-Sikh riots cases. Justice A K Pathak, while pronouncing the bail order, directed the accused to furnish a personal and surety bond of Rs 50,000 each. A lower court had issued non-bailable warrants against Kumar, 64, and others after they failed to appear before it despite its summons.
A Delhi court adjourned to Thursday the hearing on the bail application of six people chargesheeted by the Central Bureau of Investigation for their alleged role in the 1984 anti-Sikh riots cases.

The trial in the 30-year-old anti-Sikh riots case, in which Congress leader Sajjan Kumar and three others are facing prosecution, commenced on Friday in a court in New Delhi which recorded the statement of a senior official of Delhi government.
Kumar, who was directed by the high court on Monday to surrender before authorities by December 31, sought more time saying he has to settle family affairs.
