A woman on Tuesday allegedly jumped to death from the 19th floor of a residential building along with her two children at suburban Malad in Mumbai.

Nidhi Pawan Gupta, a chartered accountant, left a suicide note in which she said that nobody was responsible for the extreme step, said the police.

The bodies of Gupta, 30, her son Gaurav, 6, and daughter Mahika, 3, were taken to nearby civic run Bhagwati hospital for post mortem, police said.

According to the police, at nearly 8.30 am, Gupta threw Gaurav first and then Mahika before she jumped from the 19th floor of the 21-storeyed Sahyadri Housing Complex in Govindnagar area.

"She was a chartered accountant and would also take lectures at a local college twice a week," said Vinayak Kakade, senior inspector at Dindoshi police station.

Nidhi stayed with her husband Pankaj, in-laws, brother-in-law and sister-in-law at a flat on the 9th floor of the building, said the police, adding that the family members were at home when the incident occurred.

The victim took the two children out after telling her family members that she was taking them to their schools, Kakade said.

"She took the elevator to go up to the 18th floor. Then she took the staircase to go to the next floor, from where she threw her son first and then her daughter. Later, she herself jumped," Kakade added.

James Philip Ghondalvis, who maintains the garden of the building, saw Gupta jumping from the 19th floor, Kakade said, adding, "James is the witness in the case. A suicide note was also left by the victim in which she mentioned 'nobody is responsible for this'.

The shocked family members said they had no issues that could have driven Gupta to end her life, the officer said.

"The family neither has any financial nor any other problems. The victim's husband Pawan is involved in a readymade garment business. Nidhi's parents, who stay in Worli, also have no complaints against anybody. Our probe to ascertain the cause of her death is leading us nowhere," the officer added.
