Addressing a press conference in Bangalore after the Congress comfortably gained a majority in Karnataka in the assembly polls, state party chief G Parameshwar did not look all that elated as he had lost in his constituency, though he thanked the people who had voted for the party. Vicky Nanjappa reports.

“The people have punished the Bharatiya Janata Party which had ministers who watched porn in the assembly,” he said.

“There has been a negative vote against the BJP, but one must not forget about how the Congress went to the people and helped them with their problems,” he said.

“The BJP has neglected the common man and never once cared for them. They had no time from their antics such as resort to politics or watching porn in the assembly. In the bargain important below poverty line cards were also not issued to needy people,” he said.

Parameshwar was however non-committal about who will be the next chief minister of Karnataka. He said that the Congress legislature party and the high command would decide on that.

“Every one will abide by the high command,” he said.
