The police on Friday arrested ten persons in connection with torching of a Nano car at Nizgossaingaon village in Baksa district of Assam on Wednesday. The ten were picked out of the 65 persons rounded up by the police on Thursday night from the area.

The burning of Nano car whose driver belonging to a minority community fled to a relief camp, triggered retaliatory violence at Udiana area in Rangiya town of Kamrup district on Friday when a mob torched a bus and damaged several vehicles forcing the authority to clamp curfew in the area.

The police on Tursday night picked up 65 persons in connection with burning of Nano vehicle from areas under Tamulpur police station in Baksa district that triggered a violent protest of locals who tried to lay siege to Tamulpur police station.

In retaliation, police fired rubber bullets to control the mob injuring 12 persons.

Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi today rushed a cabinet minister Nilamoni Sen Deka to Baksa district to take stock of the situation.
