The Bharatiya Janata Party’s chief ministerial candidate Kiran Bedi has two voter identity cards having separate addresses and the Election Commission is examining how she was issued two documents from different localities.

As per the Election Commission's record, Bedi was issued separate voter identity card with addresses in Uday Park and Talkatora Lane. When asked about the issue, Bedi chose not to comment.

Election Commission officials said they were aware of the issue and are examining whether she has applied for deletion of the first entry with Talkatora Lane address.

"We are examining the issue and a final conclusion will be arrived at soon," said a senior election official. He indicated that legal action may be initiated if Bedi has not filed an application for cancelling one of her two cards.

The card with the Uday Park address carries the voter ID number TZD1656909 whereas the other one with the address 2 Kothi, Talkatora Lane has the number SJE0047969. Bedi has mentioned Uday Park in her nomination papers as her residential address.

Asked for its reaction, the Aam Aadmi Party said BJP did not check its facts while alleging that AAP voters have multiple entries in the voters' list.

"That is for the Election Commission to see. But BJP President Amit Shah had claimed that Aam Aadmi Party voters' have multiple entries in the voters' list. Clearly they did't check their facts," a party spokesperson said.
