Political blame-game has commenced over the kidnapping of schoolboy Gaurav Kumar alias Golu, who remains untraced, even 16 days after he was abducted.
This development comes in the wake of Senior Superintendent of Police of Patna Kundan Krishnan's revelation on Wednesday that a criminal gang, enjoying patronage of an Uttar Pradesh Bharatiya Janata Party member of legislative assembly, was in possession of the child.
While Rashtriya Janata Dal supremo Lalu Prasad said SSP must have made the disclosure only after ascertaining the facts about the BJP MLA's involvement and accused National Democratic Alliance leaders of having been involved in abductions in the past, his bete noire state BJP president Sushil Kumar Modi maintainedthat the MLA was being dragged into the controversy only to discredit the NDA ahead of the Bihar assembly elections.
"These people (NDA leaders)have been engaged in kidnappings, even of school children, for a long time to discredit the erstwhile Rabri Devi government. Now they stand exposed," Lalu told reporters at the Patna airport before going for electioneering.
Meanwhile, children of various public schools staged a protest march to the Patna High Court, carrying placards that read, 'Why abduct children' and 'We want Golu,' a day before the deadlineto recover and produce the child expired.
