An official of the Belgian Embassy was allegedly stabbed to death by her driver at her posh South Delhi residence, police said on Sunday.
The driver, identified as Vijay Pal Choudhary, is on the run and police is conducting raids at several places across the capital and in neighbouring Uttar Pradesh to nab him.
Isabelle Dessoy, 40, an official in the economic wing of the mission, was stabbed 22 times late Saturday night allegedly by Choudhary who had an altercation with her earlier in the day. She was staying with her 13-year-old son, a student of a French school, who had gone out to the market with his friends at the time of the incident. Her husband is in Belgium.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (South-West) Ravindra Yadav said
Yadav said Dessoy had a heated argument with the driver when she went swimming in the afternoon and had an altercation with him again in the evening before she was to go for a dinner meeting. An agitated Choudhary later entered her house between 8:30 pm to 9 pm and stabbed her with a kitchen knife and is believed to have fled in the car, he said.
Police has released a photograph of the 36-year-old accused and described him as a 5'9" strongly built man. He is a resident of Kotla-Mubarakpur in North Delhi.
