Union Minister for Chemicals and Fertilizers M K Alagiri has shifted his base from Madurai to New Delhi since last week. After a massive rout in Tamil Nadu, Alagiri has now shifted his attention to Delhi. The minster has travelled to the national capital six times since May 13, and attended office for only five days.

Alagiri has discussed the new fertiliser policy with the Prime Minister's Office and other senior officials. He has also asked his secretariat to draw up a plan of action before meeting senior Union ministers like Pranab Mukherjee and Sharad Pawar to thrash out doubts on the fertiliser subsidy issue.

Political observers in Delhi believe that Alagiri intends to make Delhi his base for sometime, at least till the Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam government in Chennai settles down.
