A volunteer of Arvind Kejriwal’s Aam Aadmi Party was beaten up and its office in Kirari, northwest Delhi, was attacked on Friday morning by unidentified goons.

Amit Kumar was assaulted and the party that the goons tried to kill him by submerging his head in a bucket filled with water. He is currently admitted to the Sanjay Gandhi Hospital.

The two motorcycle-borne assailants had followed Kumar on Friday morning and warned him

of dire consequences if he opened the office. But when he paid no heed, the duo barged into the office and went on a rampage, destroying furniture. They also beat up Kumar till he lost consciousness.

The AAP has filed a complaint with the local police. “We feel that those who want to suppress the voice of the common man against his struggle for bijli-paani are behind this incident,” the party said.

Last October, Kejriwal launched a 'bijli-paani satyagraha' in New Delhi to protest against inflated power and water bills and hike in tariffs.
