Mahesh Bhatt compares Aditi Rao Hydari with Shabana Azmi

Praising Aditi Rao Hydari for her performance in Murder 3; filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt has compared her with actress Shabana Azmi from his semi-autobiographical film Arth.

'Murder 3 is for Aditi Rao Hydari what Arth was for Shabana Azmi. Expect the unexpected. The Murder franchise has been reinvented by Vishesh Bhatt. It is a woman centric thriller which will SHOCK!' he tweeted.

However, the comment didn't go down well with the admirers of Shabana Azmi who won the National Award for the film.

But she defended the filmmaker and wrote: 'Listen guys don't get so upset by mahesh bhatt. He is not making comparisons Moreover we need to demolish our icons and embrace the young.'

In fact, Azmi is now looking forward to watch the film. 'I'm going to rush to watch the film- will be my first of the Murder series,' she wrote in a reply to Bhatt.
