Star Plus' Shararat recently completed three years and celebrated in style. The party began with an enthusiastic 'Nani aa gayee' shout from Shruti Sheth, who plays Jeeya in the serial.
While the media scurried to Farida Jalal, the said 'nani,' she exclaimed, 'My grandchildren are doing shararat even off the screen.' Jeeya replied, 'Whenever we go, we do shararat. It is you who should make us stop with your magic!'
Wearing a white silk sari with light polka dots, Farida Jalal seemed to be in light spirits. Her son had accompanied her to the party.
Shoma Anand looked gorgeous in a white salwar suit, golden eye shadow and maroon lipstick. She said, 'When I was a child, I was very naughty. One of my neighbours was very fat and couldn't walk properly. Most of the time, she would sit on a chair in the balcony. One day, I wanted to teach her a lesson, so I took away her chair just when she was about to sit. She fell, but I enjoyed it! That was the shararat of my childhood. When I grew up, I realized I hadn't done something right. I feel the serial has become so popular because it has been able to give real comic relief to people of all age groups."
She added that the serial Hum Panch, in which she regaled audiences as the 'second wife', would return on Zee TV.
Shailaja Kajriwala, creative director of Star India, said, 'I like the unit of Shararat very much. They are very disciplined and complete their work on time. As a creative director, this point has really impressed me. I want Shararat to complete 10 years.'
Poonam Narula and Manish Goyal also attended the party.
The CEO of UTV, Ronnie Screwvala, said, 'I have been attached to TV serials and film production for the last 15 years. The TRP of Shararat is lower than Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi and Kahani Ghar Ghar Ki. But, as a comedy serial, this is quite encouraging. A number of writers have helped keep the serial moving.'
The three-tier cake was cut by Screwvala and Farida Jalal, while director Rajiv Mehra, Vikas Bhalla and other unit members cheered.
