Bengali actor Soumitra Chatterjee has been awarded the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke award, and praise has been coming in from all quarters.

Social activist and writer Mahasweta Devi has loved Chatterjee's work right from the time he started working in cinema with Satyajit Ray's Apur Sansar, and has even worked with him.

She showers praise on the brilliant actor:

We feel very happy (about Soumitra Chatterjee winning the Dadasaheb Phalke Award).

I have seen Soumitra from the time he started working in cinema and have loved him.

At this time, I also want it known that Soumitra was an extraordinary editor. He used to bring out Ekhon. There are few magazines that could compare to that. He brought it out for a long time, and even wrote for it.
