Anil Kapoor's home production, Gandhi My Father, saw its premiere in Johannesburg, South Africa.

Before the film's screening, South Africa's ex-president Nelson Mandela met the cast of the film, including Akshaye Khanna and Bhoomika Chawla, and director Feroz Abbas Khan. The film also stars Darshan Jariwala and Shefali Shah. Anil Kapoor was also present.

Mandela claimed that the film reminded him of the fact that India gave South Africa a barrister and South Africa in return gave India Mahatma Gandhi, a great soul.

"It's a unique story of a father coming to terms with his family and is deeply moving," Mandela added.

A major portion of Gandhi, My Father was shot in South Africa. The film shows the personal side of the Mahatma and deals with the turbulent relationship he had with his son Harilal.

Akshaye Khanna plays Harilal while theatre veteran Darshan Jariwala plays Mahatma Gandhi.

The film will release on August 3.
