Tata Consultancy Services America was awarded a $2.5 million Rapid Outreach Grant by the Ohio government on Tuesday to aid the growth of businesses and the creation and retention of jobs in the state.
The grant, administered by the Ohio Department of Development and approved by the State Controlling Board, was given to TCS for costs associated with the acquisition and improvement of an existing building to support the company's new facility in Miami Township in Clermont County that will be utilized as a North American headquarters and a development center with information technology solution delivery capability.
The grant was part of more than $3.4 million in economic development and roadwork development grants, announced by Lieutenant Governor Lee Fisher on Tuesday.
TCS proposes to purchase of an existing 194,000 sq ft office building and more than 220 acres of property that would be expandable for immediate occupancy.
TCS will also invest in the acquisition of new equipment and furniture and fixtures. The $20-million project is expected to create 1,000 positions within the first three years of the project's initial operations.
"These quality projects in Southwest Ohio will bring a number of benefits to the region," said Lt. Governor Fisher, who also serves as director of the Ohio Department of Development. "The Banks Project will be the centre of activity in downtown Cincinnati, drawing a number of residential, retail, and entertainment opportunities to the heart of the city, and TCS is making a major investment to create 1,000 quality jobs for workers in the region," he said.
TCS has facilities in Dallas, New York City, and in Phoenix.
