CDMA-based telephony service provider Tata Teleservices (Maharashtra) has launched a new calling card that enables subscribers to make international calls at Rs 1.99 per minute.

The new card is priced at Rs 1,000.

The card enables ISD calls to the United States and Canada at Rs 1.99 per minute, while that to the United Kingdom is charged at Rs 4.50 and the Gulf at Rs 6.99 for 60 seconds. The offer also provides a validity period of 90 days from the date of activation and STD (inter-state calls) at Re 1 along with full talk time on the calling card, TTML said in a media release on Thursday.

The company was earlier charging Rs 7 per minute for calls to the US and Canada under its Business 500 plan. TTML and other Tata group telecom companies offer services under the brand name Tata Indicom.

According to Ramesh Iyer, vice president (sales), TTML, "We expect the current ISD rates offered on our calling cards to further facilitate 'affordable' calling for our consumers. As we offer ISD rates as low as Rs 1.99 per minute, we expect our offer to further facilitate international long distance calling service as convenient and reasonable as STD calls made within the country. Our primary objective is to offer easy and uninterrupted long distance connectivity to the customers irrespective of their location."

TTML provides telecom services in Maharashtra (including Mumbai) and Goa.
