Mauritius Tourism Promotion Authority is targetting a 20-30 per cent increase in Indian tourist inflow by this year-end.

"We are offering special leisure packages that include 3 site-seeing tours, water sports and airport transport for $400 to $3,000, depending on the hotel you want to stay in. We are also offering 25-50 per cent discount to honeymooners," informed Vijaye Haulder, deputy director, MTPA.

"We registered a growth of 20.4 per cent in Indian tourist inflow during 2005 with 29,755 arrivals. By July 2006, 23151 tourists visited Mauritius from India, registering an ncrease of 30.7 per cent over 2005 during the same period. Factors like Visa on arrival and Mauritius being a duty free port have further boosted the tourist inflow," said Haulder.
