Japanese industrial major Mitsui plans to set up a freed trade warehousing zone in Greater Noida, on the borders of the national capital.

This was agreed upon at a high-level meeting attended by the Japanese ambassador Yasukumi Enoki and top representatives of the Uttar Pradesh government on Friday. The state government has also agreed to allocate 100 acres of land to the company in phase II of Greater New Okhla Industrial Development Authority.

Among those who participated in the meeting were UP Development Council chairman Amar Singh, Public Works Minister Shivpal Singh Yadav, Industrial Development Commissioner Atul Kumar Gupta and UP Power Corporation chairman Ashok Khurana.

A big cluster of land at Greater Noida Phase-II would be developed exclusively for Japanese industrial units.

Japanese auto majors like Honda and Yamaha are also expected to expand their business activities in the state. Another Japanese company - Sumitomo - will also be given land in the same area.
