The Haryana government has prepared a Rs 70-crore plan to improve power supply in Gurgaon by setting up new substations and increasing the capacity of existing ones.
As per the plan, the Haryana Vidyut Prasaran Nigam would set up one 220-KV substation and seven other units with a capacity of 66 KV each, besides strengthening six existing 66-KV substations in the district.
Announcing this in Chandigarh today, an official spokesman said the 220-KV substation was being set up at village Daultabad at the cost of about Rs 30.46 crore, and 75 per cent of the work had been completed.
The substation, which is likely to be commissioned by October-end, would feed the 220-KV substation at IMT Manesar and four 66-KV substations located at village Harsaru's sector 9, 10 and 23, and would improve power supply to consumers.
He said construction work on a 66-KV substation at sector 9 was near completion, and it will cost Rs 3.80 crore. The consumers of sector 9, 10A and adjoining areas will benefit from this substation.
A 66-KV substation set up at a cost of Rs 4.25 crore has been commissioned at sector 38 a few days back, while another 66-KV substation will be set up at sector 28, on which the government will incur an expense of about Rs 4.50 crore.
This substation is likely to be commissioned by the end of this fiscal and people along the Mehrauli-Gurgaon road, Rajiv Chowk and sector 28 will benefit, the spokesman said.
