Honda Cars India on Thursday launched the automatic transmission version of its small car Brio, priced between Rs 574,000 and Rs 599,000 (ex-showroom, Delhi).
The company also introduced a new variant of the manual transmission version, priced at Rs 426,000.
"Automatic transmissions are gaining popularity in hatchback segment due to our stop-go traffic.
"Our dealer and customer voice indicated that there is a good potential for automatic in the Brio segment," Honda Cars India senior vice president (sales and marketing) Jnaneswar Sen said in a statement.
The company said Brio is the first car in its segment to be equipped with a 5-speed automatic transmission.
The Brio automatic transmission version comes with a 4 cylinder 1.2-litre i-VTEC petrol engine. The company claims that the car gives a mileage of 16.5 km per litre.
The new variant of the manual transmission will come with many features, including new audio system and body coloured outside door handles.
