Dairy products, stimulants, white flour are just some of the foods that will ruin your sex life says nutritionist Shonali Sabherwal.

We recently brought you an excerpt from nutritionist Shonali Sabherwal's book The Love Diet in which she listed out top ten aphrodisiacs.

Today, she lists out the foods that are a total no-no for your sex life.

1. Dairy products

All dairy products contain saturated fats. Not only do these foods block your arteries but also circulation of energy in your body.

Rich dairy products do not necessarily assimilate in your body very well and are usually difficult to digest.

Packaged dairy products especially are stripped off a lot of minerals and tend to make you lethargic.

2. Sugar

Excess sugar causes the body to secrete more insulin to absorb the extra sugar.

What eventually follows is a sugar crash, which leads to mood swings and low energy levels.

Sustained energy levels are crucial for conducting your day-to-day activities.

Once your energy levels drop, your body turns to stimulants such as tea and coffee.

Instead opt for whole grains that will help you sustain your sugar levels for eight hours

3. Stimulants

Stimulants such as coffee, tea or even alcohol temporarily aid in spiking up your energy levels.

They give you a feeling of high but all of it is only for a short period of time.

However after the high, follows the crash.

These energy crashes are steep and lead to adrenal fatigue.

Eventually you end up sleeping to build up your energy levels.

Stimulants also lead to erratic sugar levels, which in turn make you prone to anxiety and lead to poor memory.

4. Meat

Red meat takes a long time to digest.

Doesn't assimilate well into your system and slows down your digestion.

Anything that is difficult to digest puts stress on the organs and causes them to function at less than optimum levels.

If you must eat meat, balance it out with leafy greens and vegetables like white radish that absorb the fat from the meat.

5. Junk food

By junk food, I do not mean burgers, pizzas, chips etc which are bad anyway.

Very often we like to believe we are eating healthy but aren't.

Granola bars, oat bars, muesli etc are often considered healthy foods but aren't.

Ditto for tetra pack juices that contain artificial sugar and in good measure.

'Healthy' junk food is worse than anything else. Avoid it at all costs.

Last but not the least, also avoid breads, biscuits and processed flour products.

All these contain maida that is not only hard to digest but also leads to those sugar spikes and its resultant fallouts.
