10 things you must know about the Moto G3

Motorola Moto G3

Motorola has launched quite a few smartphones specially designed for the budget segment buyer. Interestingly, these phones are equipped with several top-of-the-line features too. In fact, the Motorola Moto G Android series started the trend of big brands selling highly specced smartphones at value prices.

The Moto G3, launched this July, is also attractively price at Rs 11,999 for the base version in the Indian market.

Clean cut attractive design

The Moto G3 is simply elegant. It has a dimension of 142.1mm in length, 72.4mm in width and a thickness of 6.1–11.6mm. The front has a big chin that houses a microphone. You will not find any physical buttons on it. The top of the phone houses a front camera and a proximity sensor.

On the right side, you will find the metal power and volume buttons that are raised a bit for ease of use. The back cover of the Moto G3 has a slight curvy look for better hold along with a primary camera and dual LED flash placed at the top centre of the handset.

The back cover comes with a matte finish, offering a better grip and reduces the chances of getting smudges on it.

Crystal clear display

The Moto G3 is blessed with a bright and highly responsive display. Motorola has provided it with a 5-inch HD IPS LCD touchscreen that supports 1280x720 pixels resolution, and a pixel density of 294ppi. The body to screen ratio is 67 per cent.

Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protects this bright display from scratches or other damages. It also has IPX7-rated protection, which means, it is waterproof.

Powerful shooters

The Moto G3 is blessed with two powerful shooters. The primary camera has a powerful 13MP sensor. This autofocus camera with f/ 2.0 aperture and 76-degree field of view is ably assisted by CCT dual LED flash that takes brilliant photos in low light conditions. It has several advanced in-built control features, which include Quick Capture, Tap anywhere to capture, 4X digital zoom, Slow motion video, Burst mode, Auto HDR, Panorama, Video iHDR, manual focus and exposure controls, Timer and an Active viewfinder.

It can also shoot videos at 1080p@30fps. In addition to this shooter, it also has a 5MP front-facing camera for selfie lovers. This camera too has f/ 2.0 aperture and 76-degree field of view. Moreover, it has similar inbuilt control features as the ones available in the primary camera making it a powerful addition to this smartphone's spec list. 

Very capable processor

The G3 is a feature packed handset and to run this newest edition of Moto G smartphone series smoothly, it is blessed with a powerful combination of a 1.4GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 (MSM8916) Cortex A-53 processor mated with 400MHz Adreno 306 GPU.

Clean and bloat free UI

The Moto G3 comes with the most recent Android 5.1.1 Lollipop OS out of the box overlaid with the company's UI on its top. The Android Lollipop is a very powerful OS that not only allows you to do multiple tasks at the same time, but also allows users to heavily customise the homescreen or icons according to taste. The new 3D parallax effect that is custom made for the apps tray in this OS gives it more depth. 

Connectivity options

The third generation Moto G boasts of dual SIM (Micro SIM + Micro SIM) dual standby mode. The company has provided it with a wide range of connectivity options like 4G, 3G, 2G, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n (2.4GHz), Bluetooth v4.0 LE, Micro USB 2.0t, GPS and A-GPS, GLONASS, and Beidou.

Helpful sensors

For better user experience, the third generation Moto G is packed with several sensors, including Accelerometer, Proximity sensor, Ambient light sensor and Sensor Hub. These sensors allow you to utilize the features of this amazing smartphone in an easy and effective way.

Storage space

Moto G third generation is sold in two storage options; one has 8GB of ROM with 1GB of RAM and the other variant has 16GB of ROM with 2GB of RAM. You can also improve the storage space of both these variants by adding up to 32GB of external memory through microSD card.

Battery life

This handset is provided with a non-removable 2,470mAh Li-ion battery that gives you 24 hours of battery backup with mixed usage, including attending calls, surfing on the net, listening to music or playing a set of game on its big and bright display.

Other features

This smart looking smartphone also has several features that make it a good value buy. These features include voice dialing, voice commands, voice recording, photo and video editor, FM, HTML 5 browser, document viewer, audio and video player that supports several formats among others.

The Moto G3 is available in black and white colour options with wide variety of Motorola covers and flip shells.
