# Asad Shafiq (78 not out) has recorded his career-best innings in ODIs -- his second fifty. His previous highest was 50 against England at Leeds on September 12, 2010.

# Shafiq's aforesaid knock is the second highest by a Pakistani batsman on World Cup debut. Mohsin Khan had made 82 against Sri Lanka at Swansea on June 9, 1983.

# Asad Shafiq and Mohammad Hafeez were involved in a stand of 82 for the second wicket --Pakistan's highest against Zimbabwe at the World Cup.

# Umar Gul has received his first MOM award at the World Cup -- his third in ODIs.

# Gul's overall record, especially his economy rate (3.81) at the World Cup is excellent -- 14 wickets at 16.57 runs apiece in eight games.
