Unmukt Chand to lead India U-19 team in Australia

Promising Delhi batsman Unmukt Chand will lead the India Under-19 cricket team on the upcoming Australian tour during which it will play in a quadrangular one-day tournament, starting April 5.

Akshdeep Nath of Uttar Pradesh [ Images ] will be his deputy in the 16-member squad.

Chand, who plays for Delhi Daredevils [ Images ] in the Indian Premier League [ Images ], has scored 644 runs in eight First Class matches at an average of 53.66.

Besides India and Australia [ Images ], England [ Images ] and New Zealand [ Images ] are the other teams participating.

The tournament kicks off with Australia taking on England on the opening day, and India playing New Zealand the following day.

The semi-finals are on April 13 and the final on April 15 –

The squad was picked by the All India Junior Selection Committee in its meeting on March 22.

The squad: Unmukt Chand (capt), Akshdeep Nath (vice-captain), Manan Vohra, Akhil A Herwadkar, Prashant Chopra, B. Aparajith, Kumar Deobrat, Vijay Zol, Smit Kamlesh Patel, Sandeep Sharma, Kamal Passi, Mohsin Sayyad, Rush B Kalaria, Harmeet Singh, Vikas Mishra, Kuldeep Yadav .
