Katich to lead Australia 'A' on India visit

The Australia 'A' team, led by left-hand batsman Simon Katich, will arrive in Bangalore on Friday. It will play two three-day games against its Indian counterparts, before participating in a triangular one-day series of 'A' teams. New Zealand is the third team.

The India 'A' team, led by Tamil Nadu middle order batsman S Badrinath, which will take on the Aussies in two three-day games, has a five-day preparatory camp in Bangalore, beginning on Friday, under the supervision of coach Dav Whatmore.

The Australia 'A' squad: Simon Katich (captain), Adam Voges (vice-captain), George Bailey, Douglas Bollinger, Ryan Harris, Ashley Noffke, Luke Ronchi, Peter Siddle, Bryce McGain, Jason Krejza, Beau Casson, Marcus North, Peter Forrest, Phillip Hughes.

The team will be accompanied by Simon Helmot (coach), Tayfun Simsek (physiotherapist), Aaron Kellett (strength and conditioning expert), Justin Sternes (manager/assistant coach), Andrew Cooke (security manager) and Jamie Cox (selector).

The two three-day games between India 'A' and Australia 'A' will be in Bangalore (September 3 to 5, M Chinnaswamy stadium) and Hyderabad (September 9 to 11, Uppal Stadium).

The tri-series, involving the 'A' squads of Australia, New Zealand and India, will be played from September 15 to 26. Six league matches and a final make up the series.

Later New Zealand will stay on and play two four-day matches, against India 'A' at Chennai (Guru Nanak ground and M A Chindambaram Stadium) between September 28 and October 6.
