A former West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) director has said that the once-formidable Windies can completely lose its credibility and disintegrate ten years from now due to its constant failure at the international level.

Baldath Mahabir, described WICB as ‘unprofessional, tardy and lax’ after he stepped down from his position, and said that he has an emotional attachment with West Indies cricket.

Mahabir believes that the young players who would come into the squad would never get the same emotive connect with the team as their predecessors had for the West Indies brand, the Sydney Morning Herald reported.

West Indies, who are currently placed eighth in the Test rankings and ninth in the ODIs, failed to qualify for the Champions Trophy.

The team had last claimed a Test victory in Australia in 1997 and will aim to improve that record when they take on second-ranked Australia in the first Test, starting in Hobart on Thursday.
