Telangana political Joint Action Committee on Monday asked the Congress and Telugu Desam Party members of Legislative Assembly to submit resignations again, after Andhra Pradesh Assembly Speaker N Manohar rejected the mass resignations of legislators two days ago.
Taking exception to Andhra Pradesh Assembly Speaker N Manohar rejecting en masse resignations of members of legislative assembly from Telangana, Telugu Desam legislators from the region on Sunday said they are ready to put in their papers again.
Thirty two members of the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly of the Telugu Desam Party on Wednesday submitted their resignations to the deputy speaker, protesting the delay in the formation of Telangana state. The MLAs, led by Telangana TDP forum convenor E Dayakar Rao, reached the deputy speaker's office at around 5.30 pm and submitted their resignations. Earlier, they had discussed their strategy and plan of action at the party office in the assembly premises.
The leaders feel that their resignations will bring pressure on the government to begin the process for Telangana.
A day after getting bail from Hyderabad high court, Telangana TDP MLA A Revanth Reddy and two others were on Wednesday released from Cherlapally Central Prison in Hyderabad, with scores of cheering supporters of Reddy raising slogans and waving Telugu Desam flags.
Adding yet another dimension to the "cash-for-vote" scam, the Andhra Pradesh Police issued notice to news channel T News for airing an audio tape of purported conversation between Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu and nominated Telangana MLA Elvys Stephenson, sparking protests by media fraternity on Saturday.
